Mercury Talent are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced or entry level Software Developer working for a Music education organisation based in leafy Liphook in a modern and stylishly converted Manor house that boasts parking a lake and its own orchard 8 minutes walk from Liphook train station which is mainline from London to Portsmouth.The role of Software developer will be to develop web applications for Internal tools and products for external customers and the general public

The role of Software Developer

Reporting to the Director of Digital you will work as a software web application developer (full-stack). The software developer will work on both Internal tools and external products used by customers and the general public.

For experienced Software Developers , you will be pleased to know that our client

  • Use modern-but-well-established tools (React, Ruby on Rails 5, APIs, Progressive Web Apps)
  • Run a continuous integration (CI) and deployment (CD) process
  • Have good tests and code coverage
  • Run code reviews for all work
  • Have minimal DevOps requirements (managed via Heroku and AWS)
  • Do sprint planning, and manage a product backlog with as little admin as possible
  • Work in a lovely office, with quiet space to focus, and a lake to sit by if you ever experience “Error: -41”

Skills and Experience for the Software Developer

  • Motivated to build products and tools that make users lives easier
  • Familiar with web application development (JavaScript, HTML and CSS)
  • Familiar with relational databases and SQL
  • Proficient with at least one programming language (e.g. Ruby, JavaScript, Java, Python, Elixir, Kotlin, Go or similar)
  • Have worked on at least one meaningful project you can talk about in an interview (could be from university, employment, or a personal project)
  • If you are a graduate without industry experience, then you have a degree in Computer Science or a similar field
